What is Prequel?

At Prequel, we give chefs an opportunity to try out a new concept and experiment with dishes, refining with our guests' feedback until they have something truly awesome. 

Chefs can join us for a Saturday night tasting menu or for a longer term pop-up of three months.

How We Got Here

We started Prequel back in 2015 at 918 F St in Penn Quarter. We were the first equity-crowdfunded restaurant in the country, with over 300 DC residents investing to make Prequel a reality.

In our first location we hosted a range of pop-ups - Georgian, Sri Lankan, Greek and Korean cuisines. We also hosted pop-ups for a number of concepts that have gone on to open their own restaurant in DC -  Honeysuckle, Himitsu, Fare Well, Bluebird Bakery and Gravitas.
